Lazdijai cultural centre together with Punskas lithuanian cultural centre second year in a row carry out Interreg IIIA neighbourhood programme project „Cultural Cooperation between Local Administrations and development of tourism in Lazdijai region and Punskas district“. One of the cultural performances planned on this project took place on June 15 at Lazdijai cultural centre hall. A large crowd of spectators gathered into the conference „Lithuania – Poland border cooperation and regional development“, interested in further cultural cooperation between Lithuania and Poland borderland. Chief of a Punskas district of Republic of Poland Vytautas Liškauskas with a delegation, Mayor of Lazdijai region Artūras Margelis took part in the conference. Mayor was happy for useful cooperation while preparing and carrying out common projects with Punskas district. Chief Vytautas Liškauskas informed participants of the conference about arising problems while fulfilling this project, however, he finished his short report optimistically. All the doors are opened, if they are knocked on… Such point of view could be adjusted while carrying out the projects. Procedures of presenting reports are put off due to long bureaucratic correspondence with Palenkė voivode district. Fortunately, when the hardships arise, wish to overcome them also appears…
During the conference a report under the topic „Introduction of programme of development of cultural heritage of Lazdijai region and Punskas district. Report of research.“ was read by the director of joint stock company „Exspress of Investment“ Dalia Budrienė. The reporter presented historical aspects of cultural cooperation between The Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Poland, also objects of cultural heritage appearing in the territories of both districts, their assessment and the most proper alternatives of developing objects of cultural heritage. Listeners were interested in evaluation of cultural heritage objects by grades and row of their arrangement. During the conference a report was made by a senior specialist of Planning and Programming Sector of Department of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture Indrė Baliutytė. The reporter presented the Register of Cultural Heritage Objects, also the registered cultural objects existing in the territories of Punskas district and Lazdijai region. Landmarks of strategic cooperation between the two administrations were foreseen for the year 2007-2012.
